David Hamilton About Myself

About Myself

30 Years in the trade

I am David Hamilton and have been in Amenity Horticulture for 30 years. Initially college trained mostly at agricultural colleges in the North and South of England. I've had a 20 year local government career with experience of 5 different councils, mostly at Angus District council where I was a parks contract officer for 14 years. The horticultural highlight of this was winning the Scottish Britain in Bloom Award in 2004 and achieving silver guild in 2005 representing Edzell in the best kept village in the Britain in Bloom competition.

Privately I have maintained a strong interest in Tree Surgery where I have ran a part-time business Stonehaven based since 1999.

In 2009 I had a 4 year interlude with the local oil industry where I worked on and offshore, mostly as a maintenance technician with Weatherford Aberdeen.

I take an active interest in the community within Stonehaven where I grew up. I am a swinger in the fireballs association and have an active interest in supporting Stonehaven tennis club.
